We believe that learning never stops. We work in partnership with charities and care providers to engage older adults with our outstanding collections, and support their continuing discovery and enjoyment of art.
Our programmes for older adults encourage creativity, social interaction and personal well-being. We currently prioritise groups that support older adults at risk of isolation, people living with dementia, and people experiencing mental health conditions.

Out of the Frame
Through the Out of the Frame programme, we invite partners from the charitable and care sectors to engage with our outstanding collections.
Our Out of the Frame programme engages older adults who might find it difficult to access our outstanding collections. Lively sessions are delivered in care homes and day centres across London, using reproductions and handling objects to stimulate interaction and discussion. Our skilled facilitators are person-centred, working with participants one-to-one or in small groups.
Out of The Frame sessions are also available in a digital or teleconference format. Digital and teleconference sessions allow participants within London to engage with the programme from their homes, decreasing social isolation and allow organisations outside of London to engage with us.
Creativity and Wellbeing
Practising mindfulness with art can help us appreciate the artwork and the visual world around us and increase our sense of well-being. When we pay close attention to a painting, we develop a deeper relationship with art and ourselves. The quiet, contemplative interiors of Dutch paintings can inspire this quality and invite our senses to become more alive and present. Developed in partnership with art and mindfulness experts Limina Collective, this short film encourages mindful looking at a small selection of Dutch paintings.
