Our display The Wallace Collection at War reveals how the museum, emptied of its art collection, became a site of international diplomacy during the Second World War.
Join author, Tim Bouverie, as he discusses the crucial roles played by Churchill and allies during this turbulent time. Through key discoveries he gleaned from over one hundred archives - including first-hand accounts and unpublished diaries - we will gain thought-provoking insights into the dramatic political complexities involved in defeating Hitler.
About the speakers: Tim Bouverie is the author of the Sunday Times bestseller Appeasing Hitler: Chamberlain Churchill and the Road to War, (2020) shortlisted for the Orwell Prize. His latest book Allies at War: The Politics of Defeating Hitler was published in April 2025 to great acclaim. He studied history at Christ Church Oxford and was the 2020-21 Alistair Horne Fellow at St Antony’s College, Oxford.
