About this session
Take up our challenge to design a new piece of furniture. Your students will experience each stage of the design process and learn how design problems were solved by great makers of the past. Students will look critically at a range of objects in the museum, then work together in groups to compete in a design challenge back in the studio. Students will develop their own ideas in response to a specific brief, test their concepts against a specification, and present their design to the whole class.
What will your students learn?
- The design process from beginning to end, including responding to a design brief, and testing and evaluating ideas.
- To identify the key elements of Rococo design and build confidence in using artworks from the past to inform contemporary design.
- To work in groups, and to formulate and present ideas.
